Know "Why?" study your Bible
....being ACTIVELY ENGAGED with God ....is a life changer

On our Quest to know God more, ....what are your thoughts about a relationship with Him? Do you have any questions, ....expectations, ....doubts? If we come to God with an honest and transparent heart, ....He will discuss anything with us? Because....

Which brings to mind our responsibility in this relationship, referring to Matthew 5:6 NKJV in title image above. Let's talk about it. ....Curious, I did some research on that verse and added explanation notes as follows....

As we study God's Word, we hunger and thirst for more of Him. ....The more we know God, the more we love Him.
....SYNONYMS for "hunger" and "thirst" tell us more....

Hunger — craving, desire, longing, yearning

Thirst — appetite, desire, eagerness, longing, yearning
The results of our choices?
Hungering and thirsting for more of God ....changes our lives. ....It "satisfies", ....fills, completes our lives in Him. ....SMILE, ....living with God is a life changer!

The Bible is God's love letter to us....
When reading a love letter, you can only "feel its heartbeat" ....and "understand its desires", ....if you "know the intent" of the sender who wrote it. Such is true reading the Bible. ....God's intent can be summarized in these words....
The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, ....the extravagant love of God, ....the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, ....be with all of you.
— 2 Corinthians 13:14 MSG
....Okay, here's a question to ponder....

How do we "see" spiritual TRUTH reading God's Word?
No one can know a person's thoughts except that person's own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And WE HAVE RECEIVED GOD'S SPIRIT (not the world’s spirit), SO WE CAN KNOW the wonderful things God has freely given us.
When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words (SCRIPTURES) given to us by the Spirit, USING THE SPIRIT'S WORDS TO EXPLAIN SPIRITUAL TRUTHS.
— 1 Corinthians 2:11-13 NLT

Because God the Holy Spirit dwells within us, ....we understand God's Word, "seeing" with spiritual eyes, ....so we can live in relationship with God Who is Spirit.
See John 14:15-17, 14:26; Ephesians 4:23-24; 1 John 3:24
God's Word is timeless, spiritual TRUTH....
Remember that the Lord your God is the only God and that he is faithful. He will keep his covenant and show his constant love to a thousand generations of those who love him and obey his commands....
— Deuteronomy 7:9 GNT
....unchanging, eternal TRUTH....
Jesus said, Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will never pass away.
— Matthew 24:35 NIV and Mark 13:31 NIV

Seek to know more of Who God IS....

If you desire a meaningful relationship with someone, then you would want to know something about their character, ....their attitudes, motives, desires, ....as much as you can learn about their "person". ....Such is the case in seeking a relationship with God. You would want answers to Who is God?, What is God like?, ....What kind of God is He?
In Bible study, such "knowledge of God" is referred to as His "attributes", ....something known to be true about God's character.
To know God, meditate on His Attributes....
....know Who God IS ....to you....

— He is Self-Existing, Without Origin (Col 1:17; Psalm 147:5)

— He Never Changes (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8)

— He Has No Needs (John 5:26)

.
"Awe" and "Reverence" describe this moment!
Let’s stop here a moment, ....pondering these "attribute" descriptions of Who God IS. ....This is beyond our comprehending. How can we even fathom the depth and breadth of what this means for us limited humans???
Whatever our life's circumstances, challenges, ....may we see God for ALL HE IS and WANTS TO BE in our lives.
May we respond like Job after his encounter with God in chapters 38-41, saying....
"I had only heard about you before,
but now I have seen you with my own eyes.”
— Job 42:5 NLT

God's Word is our road map for living....

In chapter 5, we took a road trip and discussed our responsibility in following map directions ....to reach desired destination "B".
In every person's uniqueness, God knows how to get each one of us to ....Eternity with Him! We just have to believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, ....and follow His directions in the Bible to get there.
The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway
for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.
— Psalm 32:8 NLT

It teaches us how to engage with God....
Another TRUTH, ....every meaningful, loyal relationship requires both parties be ACTIVELY ENGAGED in supporting their mutual relationship. So, how does that work in our relationship with God?
Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly MY DISCIPLES if you REMAIN FAITHFUL (ACTIVELY ENGAGED) to my teachings. And you will know the TRUTH, and the TRUTH will set you free.”
— John 8:31-32 NLT

As Jesus' disciples, we learn His teachings by studying HIS WORD.
There we find....

God's part....
....His goodness and grace is ACTIVELY ENGAGED ....in our lives....
For this is how God loved the world: HE GAVE (ACTIVELY ENGAGED) his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life (IN HEAVEN).
— John 3:16 NLT
("who believes" is our part being ACTIVELY ENGAGED with His TRUTH)
....and more, such as....
By his divine power, GOD HAS GIVEN (ACTIVELY ENGAGED) us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him.... He has given us great and precious promises (TRUTHS) ....that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
— 2 Peter 1:3-4 NLT
(....read verses 5-8 for our part being ACTIVELY ENGAGED with Him)

Our part....
....our Quest ACTIVELY ENGAGES a desire in us to be His disciples....
In studying the Bible, we learn to worship God....
....And it's more than what we do in expressing prayer or singing. True worship is the acknowledgment of God and all His power and glory IN EVERYTHING WE DO.

Our highest form of praise and worship is obedience
....to the Word of God. Worship is glorifying and exalting God ....by being ACTIVELY ENGAGED in all of life with Him.
Jesus explaining this spiritual TRUTH said, “It’s who you are and the way you live that count before God. YOUR WORSHIP MUST ENGAGE YOUR SPIRIT in the PURSUIT OF TRUTH (ACTIVELY ENGAGED). That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. THOSE WHO WORSHIP HIM (ACTIVLEY ENGAGED) must do it OUT OF THEIR VERY BEING, THEIR SPIRITS, their true selves, in adoration.”
— John 4:23-24 MSG
....and more, including....
You are living a brand new kind of life that is CONTINUALLY LEARNING (ACTIVELY ENGAGED) more and more of what is right, and TRYING CONSTANTLY (ACTIVELY ENGAGED) to be more and more like Christ who created this new (SPIRIT) life within you.
— Colossians 3:10 TLB

.
There's a lot to absorb in above scriptures. ....Understand "God has already given us everything we need for living a godly life". Our responsibility is to be ACTIVELY ENGAGED with Him, ....RELATE to His TRUTHS in our life's circumstances, and APPLY them in our lives! ....Becoming more like Jesus.

Now, understanding both the "What?" and "Why?", ....let's discuss Know "How?" to study your Bible.
